its a record

well this wknd i found myself at home for the 4th straight wknd....this time it was man shower time...not mine by any means, it was Jer's man shower...my first shower experience of any kind...it couldnt just be a shower....no no...thats girly stuff...we had to put emphasis on the MAN part...we played no games or whatever the women do at a shower...we had man food (KRUEZ), man talk (what was said at KRUEZ, stays at KRUEZ), and we gave man presents....although im sure kari would have for sure enjoyed getting tools and water hose roller uppers and mag lights....we had a good time, my cut of shoulder wasnt as good as some others i sat near and wanted to trade pieces of beef....thats not picky, thats just knowing what you like and i like me some shoulder with the most amount of beef....just tryin to get my money's worth....but the shower went good, we all had a good time....after the shower i went w/nic and jer to what i thought was going to be a viewing of reno 911...turned out after they bought my tix, i found out we would be seeing hannibal rising...not normally my cup of tea, but it was ok....except for the loud, underage kids sitting directly behind us constantly talking and cursing...but i have a great tu-aggie story...

so we enter the lockhart theatre and im kind of hungry due to my lack of a good cut of shoulder (see above) and i decide since one of these great guys bought my ticket, the least i could do would be to buy the snacks.....well i order up a tub of popcorn, my movie theatre norm, and whats the best way to wash all that buttery goodness down? you guessed it, a large DP....and so i order up a large DP and the girl's hand heads for this extremely burnt cup with all this 2005 natl champs mumbo-jumbo....and im like hold on....this cant be happening...these peeps are 2 yrs removed from winning the natl championship and they still have these cups...now a yr ago i can see that but cmon.....we dont have 2005 NIT co-champs or w/e our b-ball team did a few yrs ago.....so i tell the girl "im not drinking out of that...you dont have any more large cups?" she replies "no thats all we have. i can give you 2 mediums for the large price." and i think to myself "although that is a heck of a deal bcuz that would be more than the large holds, that would put me in the bathroom a few times" so i decline and tell the guys "i would buy ya'lls drink but i know ya'll are gonna get those cups so you can get your own drinks." and i know what your thinking, pettyness at its best.....but the sips gotta learn somehow....but its not their fault...its the theatre's fault...which is pathetic...now if they were just getting rid of the cups, i can understand that...but i have never seen those there before; not even after they won 2 yrs ago.....so needless to say, i got my medium and protested the theatre by not getting a large and them not getting their $.25 more...so there.....

slow wk this wk....phone hrs today as usual, but no work until the wknd...softball fri afternoon and last mens b-ball game of the yr saturday v. mizzou...should be fun..no tests just a project due at some point....cheers to a great wk

until next time

2 in a row is tiring

well my 2nd straight Dnow wknd is done...and i am pooped....although i am tempted to say i enjoyed this wk a bit more, i cannot...both wknds had their ups and downs, both allowed me to hang out with close friends, and both allowed me to be involved in some media capacity...and more importantly, both allowed me to be apart of what God is doing in 2 different churches and their youth groups...i also had the privilege of hearing/meeting a worship leader i've heard so much about, mostly from my dad...lindsey kane, who i've heard of periodically due to the face that i am on greg carnes email list and see her name pop up often as many major bands opening act as they come through san antone...my dad had the privilege of hearing her at an indie showcase somewhere, and he was most impressed. once again seeing how networking is so important, i also found out nic knew her from previous work he has been involved in. it was a pleasure to work with her, i enjoyed her stuff very much and look forward to hearing her during the Beach Break camp this summer. you can check her out on myspace as well as the rest of the world basically. i have a crazy rest of my wk ahead, work pretty much all day tomorrow with 2 softball games followed an hr later by a women's basketball game i am supposed to work as well...test fri morning, then headed back home for a wknd of Jeremy's "Man Shower" at Kruez and hopefully some more hang time with friends and family.

Until next time

Face melting rock + fully hubcapped room=face melting hubcaps

busy february 07 wknd part 2 consisted of the yearly Pflugerville DNow, something i've been apart of for 3 or 4 years now..and for what i think to be the 2nd yr in a row, we had the same lineup for speaker and band...the speaker being Pat Camarratta (no clue on spelling but you get the idea...good stuff as always with JCB and the boys...always a pleasure to work with a band you like to listen to, get along with, and enjoy hanging out after show...they're one of the easiest bands to mix for, but thats probably due to the fact i know the material...made some recordings of the sessions and also made a video (down below)...other than that, during the wknd i got to meet my parents for lunch with stanley at mcalister's deli, and in the words of my father when looking for a place to eat wherever we are; "there's always mcalister's deli" haha....so we met them there and stayed for about 3 hours just chatting....alos had a good wknd hanging out with stanley and mrs windy, got to see my little pimp daddy jordan just basically sunday..but the time spent with him was nonetheless fun...i had my first chuy's experience on saturday night when we all went to eat with the band, i guess i never ventured to chuy's because there's not one in south austin...and i had already eaten so i wasnt hungry and didnt get the full effect, but i did have the queso and that was killer...we ate in a room where the whole ceiling and i believe the whole wall was covered in hubcaps...which was interesting..got flbc dnow this wknd so hopefully i will have more to report next wk...got softball all day tomorrow, and in the cold that will not be fun!! so until next time

Chili Bowl, HD, and T-Sips

despite the ridicule of my readers this past wknd, i now have something to blog about....chili bowl wknd/superbowl wknd/big monday....(pic of me working that a guy i work with took)

first things first...i wasnt even supposed to go home last wknd...earlier in the wk i had received my work schedule and i was scheduled all day saturday that 3rd for tennis....not looking forward to that all wk, Friday afternoon about 230 after eating lunch w/clay i checked my work email and found out the tennis match was canceled due to wet conditions the truck couldnt be parked...so then i head home with the intent of making it before 5 to get my nap cut...got that done, had dinner with my parents and some friends...saturday brought chili bowl..my first as an adult...so i figured this would give me a chance to win....and we won...and even though i first thought i would miss playing with the youth, i really didnt....the adult team had one major difference..ok maybe 2....the first of course being soreness (which ashamedly i experienced as well)..the second being the lack of drama....and if you've never been on the youth teams side, you might have no clue what i'm talking about...but spend about 10 mins on their side during the game and you will experience what i'm talking about...

super bowl sunday was cool....watched the game at the pittman's with the youth IN HD!!! and football in HD is amazing, but football in the rain in HD is even more amazing....so it was sweet...

BIG MONDAY....woke up in LOC so obviously skipped class, just really had to do a quiz for history online...and i did well i might add...had lunch w/my pops then left for college station.....crew call was at 5, an hr before what it usually is due to the doors opening for the insane fans.....so my long night began at 5 and immediately i walked into Reed Arena, and even though nobody was in there, you could feel the excitement...maybe because right when i walked in i saw Dickie V. (the most legendary college basketball guru) taping an interview to air on sportscenter....students came pouring in at 6, two hrs before tip-off....they love dickie v so i got to tape a piece with him and some of the students, which apparently showed up on half time highlights thanks to clay....the game was electric, but even more so coming off a huge win against Kansas just 3 days prior...so most of you saw the game know we won, but TU came out firing second half but showed they dont have the depth we do..and Durant is soft on the inside and before he goes to the NBA he needs to put some weight and muscle on...his pants are high waters for cryin out loud bcuz Nike doesnt make stuff that tall and skinny..anywho...but good for Nic, his NC boys squeaked by last nite....anywho....got home at 12 monday night to get up at 7am the next morning...and if you know me, you know that just dont happen...but it did and so that began my week...im home just about every weekend this month, february always being my crazy month....but this yr school and work just about doubles it....look forward to this wknd w/the boys of Justin Cofield Band....should be good times...until next time

ahh mother nature

i always find it amusing when texans, at least central texans (i cant speak for the rest of the state) when faced with some sort of winter weather, whether it be snow, ice, sleet, or all of the above mixed together; they have this persona where they just freak. they drop whatever they're doing and must stay home with only one venture out of the house: HEB (or their friendly neighborhood grocer, in this case being HEB. now i dont know if its the weather men that instill this fear, or if its just the fact that most people can count on one hand how many times they've seen such weather in texas. that may be the case im not sure. but its funny to venture into the grocery store and see the whole place picked over like GAP outlet on tax free weekend...and thats saying something. so anyways....i know we got ice and sleet but im pretty sure we didnt get snow in college station...seeing as how i ventured out sunday evening after i arrived in town, and monday afternoon both to get books for the semester....so today i experienced what my dad referred to as "cabin fever." haha never heard of that one but i guess it is what it is. so today i ventured out about 30 feet to de-ice my car, all half inch thick coating of it....that was actually fun....hope it ices during finals wk in may so i can relieve some stress!! i did however manage to salvage the cast off my side mirror....its in the freezer as we speak (we'll see how long it lasts)....2 days out of school...supposed to start yesterday but we wont start tomorrow so an extra 2 days was ok....if u want 2nd half mizzou trip details, head on over to my fellow blogger's site www.jhellums.blogspot.com ...and for the new Sizzle n JMizzle single head on over to our myspace

until next time...peace and love

MIZZOU Day 1 & 2

well day one began yesterday..monday morning at 530 am on the nose....we were supoosed to leave at 6..well.....well that turned into 645...glad i woke up early for that occasion right....yeah....exactly what i was thinking....so i didnt expect such a journey....when agreeing to such a trip..you never really think of the journey and hourage...but....i enjoyed most of it...needless to say i didnt enjoy oklahoma very much....every town looked exactly the same....i did however enjoy the biggest mcdonalds anywhere...which goes over the road i might add...got to mizzou about 730 after about 8 stops for food or bathroom...stayed in blue springs(15 mins east of KC; and where Kim lives) and we just chilled around here last night(very tired)...so today was to be our day of fun....jeremy and i got our wakeup call about 1130 and we got ready and ventured out for lunch here in blue springs to a place by the name of "Big Biscuit"....i got biscuits and gravy..and may i just say they arent as good as Mr. Fred's...after that we drove into KC and on the way we got to experience 2 of the most prized landmarks in KC according to Jeremy and I....Arrowhead Stadium and Kaufmann Stadium...where the Chiefs and Royals play respectively.......they were fantastic....then we ventured into downtown...that was cool....that was just to drive around..we returned about 4 hours later to ice skate at the Crown Center...right next door to the Hallmark Worldwide Headquarters!!! that was my first time ice skating...so needless to say...i was horrible....lets just say..the wall was my friend....so after about half an hour of that we headed to starbucks for a much deserved cup of Chai Tea..then we headed back to Blue Springs to upload all our photos and videos of the day and rest up for what promises to be a great day tomorrow....until................tomorrow..God willing of course..
Peace

the new year

i found this on statesman.com and thought it was share-worthy....

Among predictions for the U.S. in 2007:

-Six in 10 people think the U.S. will be the victim of a terrorist attack. An identical percentage thinks it likely that a biological or nuclear weapon will be unleashed somewhere else in the world.
-Seventy percent of people in the U.S. predict a major natural disaster in the country and an equal percentage expects worsening global warming. Also, 29 percent think it likely that the U.S. will withdraw its troops from Iraq.
-35 percent predict the military draft will be reinstated.
-35 percent predict a cure for cancer will be found.
-25 percent anticipate the second coming of Jesus Christ.
-19 percent think scientists are likely to find evidence of extraterrestrial life

-57 percent said it is likely that another state will legalize gay marriage. Same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts; four other states offer civil unions or domestic partnerships.

"The telephone poll of 1,000 adults was conducted Dec. 12-14 by Ipsos, an international polling firm. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3 percentage points."

Now...how can they say this represents America when they only polled 1000 adults????

Where the Streets Have No name

this song has been stuck in my head for a little more than a wk now..its a classic

I wanna run
I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
Ha...ha...ha...
I want to feel
Sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Ho...ha...
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
The city's aflood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
Our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, and I see our love
See our love turn to rust
Oh, we're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do

Pre-Semester in review

i cant call this semester in review, even though it is complete...problem is, grades havent come out so therefore it isnt totally complete..and due to this lack of grades, i am nervous still...but this time as many before and many in the future, it is solely in God's hands..and for that i am very very greatful because i even though i try i could never do it alone..just so happens i am listening to an appropriate MuteMath song:

"take control of the atmosphere
take control of the atmosphere
you can take my world you can fill the air
take control.....take control
such a beautiful surrender, such a beautiful surrender
such a beautiful surrender, such a beautiful surrender"
as you know...all 1 of you reading this...on tues. of this wk we had an unfathomable amount of equipment stolen....for no reason other than to take whatever they could...im sure they didnt know what they had and still might not....i pray this time the cops look at the truck's tags and pull em over before they know what hit em...but as much as i feel this affects me, im not one of the ones that had large sums of money, and a large part of my life invested in all of that...and that part of it angers me even more...while i know the good side right now is nobody got hurt and whatnot, had i been out there i woulda fought for that PA....i wouldnt fight over petty things like some girl in 8th grade or some stupid drivers that cut me off on the highway...no no....i would fight for that PA...as i believe Luda speaks of a different kind of "money maker"...that was our money maker....and i was gonna fight....but not given the oppurtunity and left with such a helpless, shocked feeling hurts...we were going to use that equipment this coming sunday for a choir special at our church...what has become a yearly tradition the past 3 or 4 years....and this year the plans have to be changed.....all because some cowards wanna steal stuff they cant work for themselves....well u know what cowards?? i have prayed for you....prayed you would find salvation...in jail.... after you get stopped wherever...with all our stuff....thats not too much to ask is it????
until next time...
ps-Merry early Christmas!

days like today

well nobody commented to me about my last post so idk if people read it at all and idk if anybody reads my blog....oh well i have big shoulders...hahaha

first off let me say a huge thanks that i left out last time i believe to my parents for their support during that wk now over 4 yrs ago

on to today....im in the flag room in the famous MSC....and since its a flag room and they have diveristy stuff here, i just watched a phillipine dance show..they only did one dance with some huge stick but it was quite interesting...its like 32 degrees today or something...but it feels wonderful in here...day got started off by 5 hrs of sleep on a double test day (not suggested)...got out of the shower and was about to get dressed when i banged my knee on my dresser...wooden dresser...lets just say it didnt back down..and i lost...so i laid on my bed in pain for about 20 mins then noticed i was late..supposed to leave the house at 840, i was still agonizing in pain at 835 undressed.....so i rush to get dressed and get out the door....so i do and i make it to sweet eugenes to get my day started right....white mocha and a dozen doughnut holes...and to the inventor of sissy coffee (stuff actually w/taste and not all black)....i thank you......anyways...i get to the reed and the bus stop and was greated by hurricane-force winds that froze my face onto my body for decades to come....no bus was in sight, so i tell myself im gonna wait, but not long...first bus im taking.....first bus that came wasnt mine.....but as any warm blooded human did....i took it.....too dang cold to wait....so i take this bus, having no idea where the route goes....class begins at 935, and today was test day.....test number dos day...finally i find a stop thats relatively close to my class a 920...needless to say i made it..with time to spare...wrote my 2 essays...i thought i did quite well...test again tonite in ASL....which i like the class..but hate the tests....so we shall see....stay warm

until next time

Mistaken by Warren Barifeld

I shouldnt have to tell you who I am
Cause who I am should be speaking for itself
Cause if I am who I, I want to be
Then who you see won't even be me
Oh the more and more I disappear
The more and more He becomes clear
Till everyone I talk to hears His voice
And everything I touch feels the warmth of HIs hand
Till everyone I meet sees Jesus in me
This is all I wanna be
I wanna be mistaken
For Jesus
Oh I wanna be mistaken
Do they only see who we are
When who we are should be pointing them to Christ
Cause we are who He chose to use
To spread the news
Of the way the truth and the life
Oh i want all I am to die
So all he is can come alive
Till everyone I talk to hears his voice
And everything I touch feels the warmth of His hand
Till everyone I meet sees Jesus in me
This is all I wanna be
I wanna be mistaken
For Jesus
Oh I wanna be, oh i need to be mistaken
For You
Lord I wanna be mistaken

i aint gonna talk bout it

for those of you dying to rag me bout saturday and our loss to tech, forget about it...i aint answering......it was hard enough to let it happen before my very eyes, much less have to relive it by getting ragged on...overshadowing that though, i had a wonderful wknd with Jer...took him to yell practice, which im sure he thought was weird....but living in the austin area for so long, he has had the "wool over his eyes" so to speak for so long....hopefully now he can see the light....then sunday after church i had the privalege of FINALLY trying my hand at editing...and i had to watch the game over again and assist in making the 12th Man Video, which is just a stripped down version of the game play by play but w/o timeouts and stupid stuff....which was fun...got a butt load of reading to do, but instead i sit here and blog.....go figure.....friday headed home to hopefully watch my beloved fighting lions play and see my good friends from corpus...but tomorrow holds a grandious day....shanes playin at breakaway...jer and ker both comin in for that...should be a phenominal time....until next time

i stand amazed

i stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene
and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned unclean
singin how marvelous, how wonderful and my song..shall ever be
how marvelous, how wonderful, is My Savior's love for Me
He took my sin and my sorrow, and He made them His very own
He bore the burden to Calvary and suffered and died alone
singin how marvelous, how wonderful and my song shall ever be
how marvelous, how wonderful is My Savior's love for Me
how marvelous, how wonderful and my song shall ever be
how marvelous, how wondeful is My Savior's love for Me
and with the ransom in Glory His face I, at last, shall see
will be my joy through the ages to sing of his love for me
everybody's singin how marvelous, how wonderful and my song shall ever be
how marvelous, how wonderful. is My Savior's love for Me

music music music

wow...what an incredible day to be a music lover like myself..i have been waiting for this day, september 26th for a while now....since last spring actually.....not bcuz i knew i had a quiz in histroy......last wk John Mayer's "Continuum", last night i got to download an hr early Chris Tomlin's "See the Morning" (see previous blog) and then today i previewed Big Daddy Weave's "Every Time I Breathe" and Phillips Craig & Dean's "From the Top of my Lungs" (which i know my dad will enjoy)....i love these moments where im just so overwhelmed with new music i dont know what to do with myself...call me crazy....call me psycho if u must...but i dig it...Chris really brings it home once again with all his deep lyrics, Big Daddy does a few remakes of older worship songs...i had liked "Let it Rise" b4 to some extent, but now i love Big Daddy's version....

breakaway tonite, michael bleeker, worship pastor from the village church will be doin music so im pretty stoked about that...not sure if he can hang w/robbie seay and the gang....then we got the shanes comin to town next wk..which should be sweet....

tomorrow goin to LOC for Jeremy's grandmother's funeral......i'd much rather be going home on good terms....so keep Jer and all the Hellums family in ur prayers..

How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing
from Chris Tomlin's "How Can I Keep From Singing"

until next time

See the Morning

Im jammin the new Tomlin album "See the Morning" due out this coming tuesday the 26th....I highly suggest it!!!!

You and I were made to worship, You and I were called to love, You and I are forgiven and free
If you and I embrace surrender, You and I choose to believe, You and I will see, what we were made to be
